Christ United Methodist Invites
Its Neighbors to a Friendly Place
What’s different about Christ United Methodist Church in Sciotoville? Many say it’s the friendliness of those who gather there for worship from week to week. A warm smile and welcome awaits all who enter this new place of worship, fellowship, instruction and service.
Christ UMC is a merged congregation from the former New Boston and Sciotoville congregations. Just a few years ago, both were faced with compelling need to rearrange their approach to “being church.” They decided the wise thing to do would be to join their efforts. United by their shared faith, sense of purpose and a new facility, Christ Church now provides a beautiful atmosphere in which to worship. Their pastor, Rev. C. Franklin James, considers both traditional and newer approaches to expressing the historic faith as he designs each worship service. The Celebration Choir offers a variety of upbeat yet meaningful songs from season to season. Each service is also signed for the deaf, and assistance is available for the hearing impaired.
Children are a vital part of Sunday mornings, and evenings. The “Calling All Kids” time is a few moments especially for children, as is the well-staffed Lamb’s Church and nursery.
On Sunday evenings, the children enjoy a special program just for them including a Bible lesson, songs, crafts and a nutritious snack. During this same time, the Youth Fellowship typically meets for their activities. The adults also enjoy a time of prayer, praise and Bible instruction. Other Bible studies are scheduled at various times throughout the week.
The aim at Christ UMC is to honor Christ by sharing God’s love, and by being a thriving and vibrant congregation of worshiping people who know the joy of loving and serving others in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ.
So, if you’re looking for a home church, Welcome home!
